What a difference a few days makes! Alexander has not totally mastered riding and steering his trike and zooms around in circles on the back patio.

"Daddy, look! Elephant gonna poop!" I have NO IDEA where he comes up with some of the things he says.

New Shoes

Alexander’s first pair of running shoes. "Look at me! I run fast Mummy!"
On Sunday morning, Katie and I slept in again, although not quite as late as we had the day before. We had some fruit in the room for breakfast before heading out – some soursop, melon, mango and jackfruit purchased the evening before. Mmm.
We decided to head to East Coast again so Katie could go for a run. I hired a bike so I could keep her company and get a little exercise myself too. I think Katie ran about 5 or 6 miles out and back, and then we caught a taxi back to the hotel for a quick shower and change to head out and meet Dad and Uncle Ricky at Coffee Bean for some lunch.
After lunch, Katie and I did a little shopping in Tanglin Mall and picked up some groceries (sambal olek and Primataste Laksa mix!) before going back to Dad’s hotel to cool off, check Lennie’s running results and take advantage of his executive club access privileges. Once we had regrouped, we headed out to Holland Village so Dad could visit his suit man, Roy, while Katie and I browsed through the little shops. I ended up buying some lovely earrings, then we went back to Coffee Bean for refreshments.
We made plans to meet back up for dinner and Dad headed back to his hotel, whilst Katie and I headed back to our hotel…via Raffles City. I took Katie through the City Link mall, and we ended up getting a couple of things in Charles & Keith. I directed us out of the mall at the Esplanade in order to show Katie the Giant Durian close up. From there, we walked over to the Merlion and hopped on a bum boat for a scenic ride back to the hotel.
We had just enough time for another quick turnaround before it was time to meet up with Dad again for dinner at Brewerks. Not exactly traditional Asian fare, but it was what Katie and Dad wanted, so I was happy enough to go along with the majority. After a tasty meal of fish and chips, Katie and I said our goodbyes to Dad, and went back to our hotel to finish packing and prepare for the long flight home.
The journey home was not too bad, all things considered. Katie and I had an easy journey to the airport and some delicious breakfast at the airport. Thanks to ToastBox, I was able to introduce Katie to one of my favourite Singaporean breakfasts, half boiled egg with butter toast and teh c. We also split an order of kaya toast. Mmm.
The flight up to Japan was mercifully smooth, and Katie and I were able to sit near each other, which is way less boring than being alone. Katie and I said our goodbyes at Narita, and I headed off to catch the flight to Dallas. Fortunately, that flight was smooth too, and we arrived into Dallas on schedule, which enabled me to catch an earlier plane to Austin. The final skip-hop-jump to Austin was tough just because I was so disgustingly tired by this point (and the guy sitting next to me seemed to have forgone the deodorant that day – yeuch). But soon I was home, back with my husband-man and Alexander boy and Rosie pup. And I was happy.
